About the Film – 25th Anniversary

25th Anniversary is a short film written by Michael Tinsley. It follows Darryl and Daisy, a couple celebrating 25 years together, as their children join them for a day that blends humor, family dynamics, and emotional weight. What begins as a lighthearted road trip — full of playful banter, awkward parent–child conversations, and comic timing — slowly reveals a deeper truth about memory, love, and loss.

At its heart, the film asks: What remains after 25 years of joy, struggle, and family ties? With a mix of levity and poignancy, 25th Anniversary delivers both laughs and an emotional punch, making it a compact but powerful story about relationships and the passage of time.

Project Highlights

As 1st AD on 25th Anniversary, I coordinated a full-day shoot with five location swaps across Port Moody, BC — staging at the SkyTrain basecamp and wrapping on the docks 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

Crisis management is where I thrive; tight transitions, unexpected variables, and tide-dependent shots sharpen my efficiency under pressure. Yet beyond logistics, I focus on people, keeping morale high and communication clear so cast and crew can perform at their best. Balancing time precision with human care defines my craft as a 1st AD.

  • Scheduling & Time Management: Coordinated a 12-hour shoot day across 5 location swaps in Port Moody, BC, covering 6 script pages and finishing 30 minutes ahead of scheduled taillights.

  • Crew Leadership: Directed and supported a team of 8+ core crew members and 5 principal cast, totaling 15+ professionals on set while aligning their work with a one-day turnaround.

  • Logistical Oversight: Managed 3 company moves, directed staging at the Moody Centre SkyTrain basecamp, coordinated 20+ individual parking allocations, and ensured safety compliance with a hospital located 5 minutes from set.

  • Railway Coordination: Since one location was an active SkyTrain station, coordinated with TransLink scheduling staff, train captains, and operations control to secure optimal filming windows without disrupting transit flow.

  • Communication Hub: Fielded and resolved 100% of transport and logistical queries, enabling the director to dedicate all creative energy to performances and visuals.

  • Production Efficiency: Oversaw 2 wardrobe/makeup cycles and synchronized dock scenes with a 4:00 PM high tide window, ensuring environmental timing didn’t delay production.

Hey, if you aren’t enjoying while you’re working, are you really working?

On 25th Anniversary, yes there were five locations, train schedules, tide charts, and a hundred moving parts. But honestly? The laughter between takes, the inside jokes on the shuttle rides, the crew grabbing coffee together at 6AM, that’s what fueled the grind.
